God - A Personal Prospective

.

People often ask me about God. They say things like "How can a loving God permit all the suffering in the world?" This is my personal answer. You may agree with me, you may disagree, that is your choice.

Before I get into this, let me just say that to me, God is both male and female, God and Goddess, in balance but for brevity in this short article I will comply with the popular convention of calling God 'He'.

So how can a loving God permit all the suffering in the world? My answer is that He does not permit it, He revels in it; not in a vindictive way but because He knows that it is not real.

According to Hindu mythology, Brahma is sleeping, and as He sleeps He dreams that He is all of us. My personal belief is that God is not dreaming He is all of us, He is playing at being all of us. I am God and so are you. Not a part of God, there are no separate parts, different bits, Alen Watts (1915 - 1973) taught us that. We are all different faces of God playing. One incarnation poor, the next rich. One as a cripple, then as an athlete, then as a paraplegic athlete. One as a tyrant and then as a peace maker. Different games, for fun and for learning. None of it is good or bad because none of it is real.

Human religions and philosophies like to portray God as perfect and finished. To me God is growing and evolving through His experiences of being all of us, men and women, humans and animals, trees and rocks. If we are souls having physical bodies in order to have physical experiences then the Great Oversoul also takes a physical body in order to have physical experiences and His body is the physical universe. So the universe is the body of God and God is the soul of the universe.

So why all the suffering? Why do body builders go to the gym? They get strong by pushing against resistance. A world with no problems would be like a gym with no weights. We set ourselves problems so we can grow stronger by overcoming them. Problems only become suffering when we forget who we really are and why we incarnated here in the first place. When you remember you are God having one of His billions of physical excursions, the suffering will go away. Accept the challenge of the problem, enjoy overcoming it and you will have discovered the secret of life.

By all means help one and other, service to humanity is noble and good, but the greatest gift you can give to a suffering person is to remind them of who they really are and why they are here.

.

Good luck.
