Question: I would like to know your
opinion on fate versus the Law of Attraction.
Thank you.
Cindy. |

Jack's Answer: Hello Cindy, Thank you
for your very interesting question. Let's
start by defining our terms. Wikipedia
defines "Fate" as "Destiny, controlled by free
will, explained by Karma". It then goes on
to define "Destiny" as "A predetermined course
of events. It may be conceived as a
predetermined future, whether in general or of
an individual. It is a concept based on the
belief that there is a fixed natural order to
the universe". |
|
. |
|
So if Destiny exists at all,
what controls it? Are the courses of our
lives ordained by some divine being or by human
will? Even if we are destined to follow
our destiny, are we pre-destined to to so or are
we in the driving seat for the entire journey?
Even if we are predestined, who or what drew up
the game plan in the beginning, some divine
being or ourselves? |

You asked for my personal
opinion and personally I believe in
reincarnation and that we plan (predetermine?)
our own lives before birth. As I say, this
is my personal belief but maybe even the word
"belief" is a bit strong. I have seen and
experienced a lot of things and my person belief
system is my way of making sense of it all.
Everything I believe may change at any time if
new evidence or new experiences make such a
change necessary. When I say "plan" I mean map
out our lives in a very general way, whilst
still being free to make on the spot changes and
decisions. This still leaves room for the
Law of Attraction to bring us the experiences we
focus our thoughts upon. If we are here to
learn (and its a big "if") then we must be free
to think and act as we like and see what results
from those thoughts and actions. Then we
can learn to think and act differently in order
to produce different results if we so choose. |

|
There is another aspect to this
too. We share this planet with
billions of other human beings and a much larger
number of other species, all making decisions
and acting upon them moment by moment. We
do not make our own choices in isolation but
rather in this sea of other activity.
Maybe this is one reason that we sometimes feel we have
little if any control over our own destinies.
We may plan a career, a marriage, a family, all
living happily and in abundance while events in
the world around us conspire to start a war,
blow up our house, conscript our spouse into the
army, and have our child killed by a land mine.
From that perspective it would certainly look
like we were in the hands of fate. But we
must have held thoughts and beliefs that were on
the same frequency as the war in order to be
drawn into it. Everything that happen in
our lives we have attracted, one way or another.
|
|
. |
|
It could also be that we came
here to learn from difficult setbacks. Why
do people climb high mountains and explore the
Antarctic? Certainly not because its
comfortable and easy but rather because its hard
and a challenge. Maybe while we are
between incarnations we plan exciting, hard and
challenging lives for ourselves.

Law of Attraction theory
suggests that we are more than driftwood on a
sea a fate. It suggests that we are not
driftwood at all but boats with rudders and our
rudders are our dominant, habitual thought
patterns. But most of us are more like
seagulls than mariners. We land on the
boat of our lives but do not recognise the
significance of the rudder. We just ride
the boat and go where it takes us. If
only we could recognise the rudder and learn to
steer the boat, we could make it take us
wherever we wanted. Those of us who can't
steer our boats make up excuses to explain away
our inadequacies, theories of fate and
pre-destiny .
|
|
. |
|
Well Cindy, your boat does have
a rudder, your thoughts, and this website will
teach you how to use your thoughts like a rudder
to steer your own boat of life. |

Hope this helps.
